If you’ve ever listened to my webinars or done a medium reading with me, you know that I emphasize how important it is to remember that our loved ones on the Other Side are people.
However, the way I see people in the Spirit world is different than the way I see them here. That’s because once people have transitioned, they no longer live in their physical bodies.
When I meet someone for the first time here, I might notice the color of their hair, how tall they are, what they’re wearing and any other physical features that I can take in with my eyes. Of course, my other senses will come into play, too, especially if someone’s wearing strong perfume or speaks in a really loud voice.
It’s different when I connect with someone in the Spirit world. I can feel their energy. What I see are the images they send me as they come forward to communicate with you.
How Spirits Look to Me
People often wonder if their loved ones on the Other Side look like spirits depicted in movies and on TV. Because the entertainment industry is trying to visually represent energy, there’s a lot of room for personal interpretation.
To give you an idea of what it’s like for me, here is a detailed example of someone on the Other Side identifying themselves to me during a medium reading, and how I relay this to the sitter.
I am shown a man dressed nicely. He shows me his clothes as nice slacks and a dress shirt. It looks very meticulous. Ironed. He gives me the impression that he was into his clothes and how he looked.
My body feels bulky in a muscular way. I feel as though I am physically in shape. I also feel a sensation on my upper left arm. This is a tattoo.
I also hear laughing. He has a good sense of humor. He shows me a picture of himself standing next to a woman.
He motions his hands toward him as though he is saying come here, but this is his way of showing me that he takes responsibility for his passing. It’s not necessarily suicide – it could be by his actions.
All of this comes together very quickly. Through these I am able to tell the sitter that her husband is here and telling me that he always dressed nice. His looks and clothes were important to him. He is also someone who was in good physical shape. Based on how my body feels he had muscles but was not bulky like a body builder. I hear him laughing. He liked to joke and had a good sense of humor. He also shows me that he has a tattoo on his upper left arm.
If the sitter validates this person as her husband, then I proceed with the rest of the reading, passing along any messages he asks me to relay to her.
Spirits Identify Themselves Through Signs
When people in the Spirit world connect during a reading, they send me messages about themselves through pictures, thoughts and physical feelings (clairvoyance, clairaudience and clairsentience).
Pictures can represent physical attributes that described them at some point in their lifetime (e.g., tall, short, thin, bald, wearing glasses or a certain style of clothing, holding a cigar or smoking a cigarette, etc.).
Your loved one on the Other Side will send images of themselves as they were in this lifetime with you. For instance, if your mom wore dresses a lot, I’ll probably see a woman wearing a dress because that’s the image she sends me.
These types of pictures come very quickly in my “mind’s eye.” I’m not seeing them in a literal sense. I might not be able to clearly see her face, or describe her figure — unless those are among the images she sends me.
Thoughts can be about events from the past or things they’re observing now. If there was a wedding in the family, your loved one in the Spirit world might let you know that they knew about it and were there, too. If you’re going through a period of change, they might share their opinion about which direction they think you should take. Your loved ones want you to know that you’re still connected, even though they’re on the Other Side.
Physical feelings can represent other attributes or characteristics that describe them at some point in their lifetime. For instance, if your wife had been a dancer, I might sense a certain lightness on her feet. If your son rode a motorcycle, I might feel the wind across his face or see a motorcycle.
During a reading, I put these “puzzle pieces” together, and a whole picture emerges. I can then distinguish one Spirit from another and identify what is unique about the person coming forward from the Other Side.
These unique features are not just for identification, but also points of validation for you, the sitter. Validation is important because, as a medium, I never want to “force” Spirit information to fit. I want to ensure that I am truly connecting with your loved one, and not a random spirit passing by to say hello!
Your loved ones on the Other Side want to communicate with you. I’m the bridge — the “messenger” — who makes this connection, not only for you but also for your loved ones.
